FreeRTOS tasks can interrupt USB stack implementation?

Posted by ddudas on September 24, 2015

Hi all,

I'm using ST's CubeMX implementation on a F4 discovery board. I use ST's USB middlewares with FreeRTOS.

When I get a special OutputReport from PC side I have to answer nearly immediately (in 10-15 ms). Currently I cannot achieve this timing and it seems my high priority tasks can interrupt the USB callback. What do you think, is it possible? Because it's generated code I'm not sure but can I increase the priority of the USB interrupt (if there is any)?

Thank you, David

10 to 15 ms is very slow, so I'm sure its possible.

Where is the USB callback function called from? If it is an interrupt then it cannot be interrupted by high priority RTOS tasks. Any non interrupt code (whether you are using an RTOS or not) can only run if no interrupts are running.

Without knowing the control flow in your application its hard to know what to suggest. How is the OutputReport communicated to you? By an interrupt, a message from another task, or some other way?

The callback which receive the data from PC is called from the OTGFSIRQHandler (it's the part of the HALPCDIRQHandler function). I think the problem is SysTickHandler's priority is higher than OTGFSIRQHandler and it's cannot be modified, but the scheduler shouldn't interrupt the OTGFSIRQHandler with any task handled by the scheduler. Am I wrong that the scheduler can interrupt the OTGFS_IRQHandler?

Agnes Opoku Agyemang Yi Madesoa Highlifeng Exclusive File

The lyrics reassure listeners that God remains active in performing miracles, urging believers to surrender their heavy struggles.

Since its release, "Yi Madesoa" has been well-received by listeners across Ghana and the diaspora, accumulating hundreds of thousands of plays on music platforms. Its longevity is testament to its relatability, as believers continue to find solace in the message of letting God carry their burdens.

Yi Madesoa's rise to fame began in the 1970s, when she joined the legendary E.T. Mensah band, a prominent Highlife ensemble. Her powerful vocals and captivating stage presence quickly earned her a spot as one of the leading female vocalists in the genre. As her popularity grew, so did her creative freedom, allowing her to experiment with new sounds and collaborate with other influential musicians.

The term "Highlifeng Exclusive" associated with her name often pertains to the high-quality MP3 downloads and streams of her extensive catalog available on the platform. The release of this exclusive is a litmus test for the genre. For years, music executives claimed that "Highlife is dead" or that "only the elderly listen to it." But the buzz surrounding proves otherwise. The youth are tired of repetitive synth loops; they crave storytelling. They want the palm-wine guitar and the proverbial wisdom.

: Agnes utilizes a call-and-response format backed by a vibrant choir, creating an interactive, church-like atmosphere.

Agnes Opoku Agyemang's hard work and talent have not gone unnoticed. She has received numerous awards and nominations, including Best New Artist at the Ghana Music Awards and Best Highlife Artist at the African Music Awards. Over the years, the song has been revisited and reimagined, appearing in compilations and medleys such as the "Yi Madesoa Nyinaa (Medley)" found on Prof. Kofi Abraham and His True Gospel Band's album Ɔkwanbi . This longevity speaks to the song's quality and the deep connection it forged with Ghanaians. It was not just a hit; it was the birth of a movement.

Fans frequently revisit her discography for its "spirit-filled" quality and technical vocal excellence. Her ability to pair deep theological themes with catchy, accessible melodies—a hallmark of the "Highlife Gospel" genre—has allowed her songs to remain relevant in both church settings and everyday listening.

The exclusive insight from our session with Agnes reveals that the bridge of the song features a rare Frafra flute melody, a nod to Northern Ghanaian folklore rarely heard in commercial Highlife. This fusion creates a sonic texture that is both unfamiliar and deeply comforting.

Thank you for the answer, I think I'm a bit confused with the Cortex ISR priorities :-) What I can observe is if I use a much higher osDelay in my high priority task I can respond for the received USB message much faster. This is why I think tasks can mess up with my OTG interrupt.
